Wind N’ Sea Beach Engagement Session // Paige & De’jon

Tips on choosing an Engagement Session Location

On a beautiful Winter day in La Jolla, ca Paige and De’jon shared an afternoon of dancing on the beach, splashing in the waves, and being all together adorable. They contacted me as they were going to be in San Diego for a special event. With San Diego being where De’jon went to University, it has a fond history for them. They wanted photos of this special trip as they are both busy in their careers in NYC and don’t get to visit as often as they would like. Of course, I was overjoyed.

Paige wanted a casually elevated look. Paige wore a lovely white cross strapped dress from Nordstrom, plus unique & sentimental jewelry which accented her look perfectly. She is the Beauty Editor for Allure Magazine and looked flawless of course. She also chose a natural dewy make-up look that complimented everything beautifully. De’jon chose a breezy linen button down and dark navy khakis. I loved what they chose and loved even more the connection these two have.

They adventured around the scenic cliffs and soft sandy shoreline all with grace even when climbing the stunning rock formations Wind N Sea beach offers. The light was magical and could not have asked for a more perfect day.

This got me thinking about the importance of choosing an Engagement location you love and are connected to. I recommend to all my couples to take a few weeks to reminisce, there is no real rush to decide. In those weeks, think of places that are special to you two and go with your heart. Think of restaurants you enjoy, what you do on the weekends, what really makes you smile. If a city means a lot to you as these two did, speak with your photographer and see if they are willing to travel. Most will charge a travel fee for time, but what a fun way to relive your history with your photographer by your side. This is a great way to build trust and a repor with your photographer as well.

It is easier than you think. Make it fun.

I recommend these things when choosing an Engagement location because when you look back at your memories, show your family, show your grandchildren there is a wonderful story attached and life is given to the images in a new way. They aren’t just jpeg files, they are printed and cherished by those who love you as well. It’s wonderful!

As a Wedding photographer I want this to reflect your love story, not mine. I want you to look back at these images and remember these moments fondly. Remember how the warm sun felt on your skin, the tender hand holding, and much more.

Also, I truly hope you enjoy and are doing well in this strange time. There are lots more photos from this La Jolla Engagement Session to browse. May they brighten your day and provide inspiration for your own story.
