I’ve had the delight of documenting celebration all over the globe through this 15+ year career as a wedding photographer.
When I say this is a special place, I mean it is picturesque in a calming and grounding way. You feel close to nature. It is beautiful in a way the world should be. When you visit you arrive on a ferry to the port town of Friday Harbor. It is quaint and cute with lots of local shops and food. Definitely, plan to spend some time exploring here. Your wedding guests will love it.
The ferry books out months in advance if you are driving a car on, plan ahead. You can share this information with guests or talk to Washington state ferry to see if can buy a certain amount of tickets ahead.
As you leave Friday Harbor you will drive along a road that is charming with farms and trees and it’s just gorgeous. There is place nearer to Roche Harbor called Wescott Oyster Farm. It is open seasonally and absolute perfection if you enjoy oysters. There is also Saltwater Farm that hosts welcome events and weddings.

My husband grew up in Seattle, WA and would often go to the San Juan Islands for vacations with his family. We have continued the tradition over the years and from the first moment we docked and walked off the ferry, it was the most charming and magical place. When Kylie and Russ reached out for their wedding at Roche Harbor, I was thrilled and then when we connected I was smitten. Over our time together we have built a report through our conversations and emails. It was incredible being invited to document and observe these memories for them. These are just a few favorites from their welcome event at San Juan Vineyard on Friday Harbor island.

They had the most delicious and perfectly beautiful, plus tasty afternoon with their closest family and friends. The Paella was a highlight and the vineyard had a flight of samples for each guest. It was such a great experience.

I took some time to scout for the best locations near their venue- Hotel De Haro. They have incredible views at every turn. We headed out to the dock and went on their family boat. Incredibly personal to them and a beautiful backdrop for these heirlooms.

The family owns a boat and we had the opportunity to take photos in the marina with them. Absolutely unforgettable. I adore these two and we had a great time exploring their favorite place.

Roche Harbor hotel is a gem of the San Juan Island wedding venues. It is secluded, has amazing food, and could not ask for a more unique experience for your guests.
